Leading Suffolk company looking for a SMART individual to recruit in readiness for “year of the garden room”

SMART Garden Rooms, Offices & Studios, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of quality outside buildings, is predicting that 2022 is likely to be its best trading year yet. But the company also reiterated that it needs more staff to ensure it can deliver this trading ambition.

The Thurston-based company, which has been trading since 2006, continues to experience an ongoing significant increase in the numbers of people looking to contract the company to help them work sustainably from home due in part to the impact of the COVID19 pandemic.

SMART received an additional boost last year when renowned property expert, TV presenter and writer Sarah Beeny recommended the use of the one of the company’s seven garden room designs in her Renovate, Don’t Relocate TV series.

Now, in an interview with Ideal Home magazine, Ms Beeny has suggested that a garden room is a “perfect place to go and work.” And a SMART senior director has come out in agreement.

Paul Sheppard, SMART’s operations director explained that: “our order book has never been more full and we project that as the country comes out of the COVID19 pandemic that the trend towards home working will continue as it has proven its worth to thousands of employers and their staff.

“We truly believe that 2022 will be the year of the garden roomThis is great news for SMART as the investments we have made over the last 24 months or so in our product range, customer service and innovative use of new technologies to help clients design their ideal garden rooms stands us in good stead.

“People always associate a garden room with an office space to work from home. However, we’ve seen a huge uplift in people using then as gyms, businesses using them for extra office space and also domestic customers deciding to install a room in their garden to create extra space away from their house. Due to our unique construction method, we offer turnkey solutions with installation times from as little as one day.”

To consolidate its position as the UK’s leading garden room manufacturer in 2022, SMART has confirmed the appointment of a leading business development expert to front up its expanding sales operation.

Peter Mayhew

Peter Mayhew, SMART Sales Manager

Peter Mayhew has well over two decades of experience, including 15 years as publisher Archant’s sales manager.

Peter said: “Becoming SMART’s sales manager is a dream come true for me. The company’s reputation and all-round emphasis on quality have established it as the market leader just at the time when the whole garden room market has taken off. I am absolutely confident that 2022 will be the best yet for this iconic Suffolk company.”

Peter is looking to expand his sales team, but acknowledges that staff recruitment is not easy at the moment. “We’re in a bullish jobs market and that means it’s harder than ever to attract the right talent. However, SMART has more than doubled its headcount in recent years under the new management team and I am sure the right person to join us is out there now. I look forward to hearing from them.”
