SMART Garden Rooms, Offices & Studios, based in Thurston just outside Bury St Edmunds, has announced the launch of the latest addition to its growing range of stylish and high-quality buildings.

The Forge range offers a totally Net Zero solution for the company’s current and potential customers, combining an innovative zero timber construction, with recyclable steel frame and composite style eco-friendly cladding.

 The Forge comes in three sizes to suit different garden sizes: Forge 6 which is 2.1m x 2.1m, Forge 9 which is slightly larger at 2.3m x 2.3m and Forge 20 which is larger again at 5.3m x 3.3m.

 Using Kerracore technology, the authentic wood effect cladding is harder than standard composite equivalents and is more resistant to scratches and scuffs. It also comes with a 10-year warranty

The steel frame itself is fully recyclable and comes with a 20-year warranty.

There is also an option to add a “living roof” of grasses and plants, which can absorb up to 110kg of CO2 per year.

The company is also offsetting the carbon footprint of the delivery and installation processes via the SMART Forest as part of an agreement with Tree-Nation, a leading planter of trees and other carbon offsetting schemes for businesses and community groups.  This will ensure that the whole Forge process is transparently Net Zero.

According to Matt Moss, SMART’s managing director: “The Forge is our eighth range and the third to be launched since our management buyout about four years ago. It is in many ways a pivotal development for us, as it combines a significant step up in convenience for owners who are busy with family and work and may not have much time to maintain their building and a significant further investment in our commitment to becoming totally Net Zero.

 In addition to launching the Forge, SMART has continued to develop its other seven designs (the Suffolk Barn, the Temple Folly, the Ultra, the Belle, the Key Studio, the Evolve and the Affinity), around which it offers a multitude of optional extras and upgrades to suit individual tastes and the particular features of any prospective locations for its buildings.
