As we now head into another unpredictable summer, here we take a look at the ways in which you can keep your building warm – and cool – when needed.

Every SMART garden room, office or studio boasts industry-leading insulation in the walls, floor and ceiling, sandwiched between thick, chunky walls and unlimited double glazing. These rooms really can withstand all that the weather has to throw at us whilst being energy-efficient too. With a whole host of optional extras and upgrades available, you will have no trouble dealing with the harshest of winters and the warmest of summers.

Climate Control

To get the best out of your timber garden office, the trick is to keep the building at an ambient temperature, not to let it get cold and damp during the winter months or boiling hot at the height of the summer.

So, let’s take a look at how you can do that, and we’ll start with heating.

Every SMART garden room, office or studio is supplied with a portable, thermostatically-controlled, oil-filled radiator which, when left on low during the winter months,  will just turn itself on and off when the temperature drops and therefore keeps the building at an ambient temperature whilst being very economical.

Some of our customers prefer a more modern approach, so we also offer a wall-hung version and underfloor heating as optional upgrades.

Both of these are thermostatically controlled so are simple and economical to run. We can even supply smart heating for those techies amongst you

SMART also have a heating and cooling option in the form of a climate control unit. Again, this is thermostatically- controlled so you can eliminate the need for it to be continually running. It will keep the building at that all-important ambient temperature, running hot air in the winter and cold air in the summer.

Windows & Doors

We use building regulation-approved double-glazed UPVC doors and windows in all of our buildings – these are great for reflecting heat back to its source. This helps your garden room, office or studio stay cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

We would also recommend, especially if your SMART garden room, office or studio has a lot of glass, that you fit blinds which will be invaluable, particularly during the warmer months.

If you tilt these against full sunlight when the room is in use, or close them fully when it is not, then this will help keep the building cooler.
