5 Ways to Reduce the Stress of Christmas with a Garden Room

We can hardly believe it’s just a couple of weeks until Christmas. It should be a time of merriment, giving, and celebrating – a time for relaxing and unwinding. But if you’re the one doing all the Christmas present buying, party planning and food preparation, the turkey won’t be the only thing under pressure. So, how can an insulated garden room take the stress away from Christmas?

Quite easily. With an insulated garden room, you can say goodbye to stacking Amazon packages in the spare room, hiding presents in wardrobes and storing the Quality Streets and Crackers. And that’s just in the run-up to Christmas. Your insulated garden room can be a real show-stopper of a space or even a place to escape on the big day itself.

The Pressures of Christmas

If Christmas fills you with equal amounts of stress as it does joy, you’re not alone. The pressure to achieve the perfect Christmas is very real indeed. After all, it’s the few days in the year that most of us get to spend quality time with those we love.

It’s not surprising then that a Warner Hotels research poll from last Christmas revealed that wrapping and hiding presents, the big food shop, lack of space and no time to exercise all add to Christmas stress.

So how could a winter garden room be a solution? We’re not talking about a summer house. We mean a fully insulated garden room that is as comfortable as an indoor room all year round.

Remarkably, of the 25 biggest stresses of Christmas identified, a winter garden room can directly help at least nine, and these are:

  • Buying (and hiding) presents
  • Pleasing everyone
  • Doing the big food shop
  • Wrapping presents
  • Putting on weight
  • Preparing dinner on the day
  • Hosting Christmas day
  • Lack of exercise
  • Space for entertaining
  • Juggling Christmas preparations with work

So, let’s explore five of the more obvious benefits of owning an insulated garden room this Christmas.

  1. Buying and Hiding Presents

This has got to be one of our most favourite polls of all time. We couldn’t help but have a giggle in the office when reading Beano’s research poll into the lengths parents go to hide presents, and what children will do to have a peek.

Cheekily, kids will first look is under the bed, followed by the wardrobe, forcing 70% of parents to hide gifts away from home. The garage isn’t ideal because everything gets a little damp. So, that’s where a contemporary garden room comes into its own. It’s the perfect hiding place; it’s indoors, away from prying eyes, can be kept under lock and key, and if you really don’t want the kids to see, you can close the blinds. As far as practical garden room ideas go, this must be top of the list.

  1. Wrapping Presents

It’s Christmas Eve. The kids are no way near approaching sleep, yet you’ve still got 101 presents to wrap, all without alerting little ears. For any parent in the know, it’s quite an art. One of our most favoured garden room ideas is to create a present wrapping station, using the width of your contemporary garden room if you wish.

You can be as loud as you like and even play Christmas music as you go. You can even leave the presents there overnight and decorate the garden room just as Santa and his Elves would, complete with reindeer footprints, nibbled carrots and an empty glass of milk (or mulled wine!).

  1. Space for Entertaining

You never have enough space at Christmas. However, it needn’t be this way. Just think how much smoother Christmas day would run if you had another entertaining space. For example, your contemporary garden room could be the perfect place for that evening buffet. Apart from the items needing refrigeration, you could set everything out in the morning or night before. It’s great for a change of scenery and far easier to decorate.

It’s not just Christmas day that a garden room can be used for festive gatherings, though. It’s the ideal place to wine and dine with friends and family. As one of our most creative garden room ideas you could turn yours into a Grotto – just make sure you’ve lined up a willing Father Christmas.

  1. Room for Exercise

Everyone feels a little sluggish during December.  Whether it’s too many Christmas parties or mince pie munching, research shows that 83% of people feel they’ve over-indulged by mid-December. Almost a quarter of people (23%) have plans to control their calorie intake, while 17% plan on starting a new fitness routine in the New Year. So, a contemporary garden room that doubles up as a gym is a great idea.

You can work out early in the morning before each day of celebrations and feel completely guilt-free as you tuck into your third Christmas pudding.

  1. Help with the Big Food Shop

Together, UK shoppers spend £1bn more on groceries at Christmas time than they do at any other time of the year. With the hopes of everything being in stock slowing dashing, shoppers are tacking on a couple of little extras to each of their weekly shops. However, it can be tricky finding somewhere to store everything, from the pickled onions, cheese straws, mince pies, crackers, paper plates to the extra bottles of bubbly. If you’re fortunate enough to own a contemporary winter garden room, though, you could turn it into a giant hamper. Best of all, nobody will be tempted to tuck into the sweet treats or open that bottle of wine early!
