What are Smart Garden Offices made of?

The framework of every Smart Garden Office building is constructed from a premier grade of construction timber (European sourced and environmentally accredited) combined with high quality panels materials.

The principal cladding elevations are constructed from a high specification exterior 18mm plywood which is double coated with the Owatrol 15.  Internally, the lining is finished from a silk coated MDF which is both robust and attractive. Of course, the building is insulated on all 6 planes

Are Smart Garden Offices insulated?

Yes ! Very much so.

Every Smart Garden Office is fully insulated throughout - with complete coverage on all four walls, floor and of course, ceiling. We use a high quality polyisocyanurate 40mm insulation (better known as Celotex) which is the construction industry's leading insulative. The material is exceptionally dense and is foil lined on both sides. As this hi-tech insulation material is so effective it enables us to maintain our narrow guage walls. 

Do garden offices have electrics?

Whilst many garden office suppliers consider electrics to be an optional extra, all Smart Garden Offices, however are supplied with a complete set of integral electrics. That means all cabling is hidden within the wall cavility and there's plenty of electrical sockets, positioned where you want them. Attractive 240v halogen spotlight fittings which are ceiling mounted. Each Smart building is supplied with it's own consumer unit (fusebox) too.

How are garden offices lit?

Surprisingly, not all garden office suppliers include lighting in their standard package. However, every Smart Garden Office includes plentiful internal lighting from attractive 240v (mains) spotlight fittings. Our Micro is supplied with 4 x 50w, the Solo 4 x 50w, the Duo with 8 X 50w, Trio and Quarto with 16 x 50w lights. All controlled by push dimmer switches so you have total control over the lighting in your office. We also offer optional exterior lights on a PIR switch - so that on those cold dark winters nights you never left in the dark!    

 

Do I need an electrician to connect my garden office?

Your garden office will need connecting to your main consumer unit (household fusebox). We offer the full connection service as an optional extra - and our fully trained and experienced electrician will connect your garden office on the same day as we install your building. We arrange it all.

 

What kind of electrician do I need?

If you wish to use an alterantive electricain to connect your garden office then we recommend you engage a professional electrician who will sign off your connection to Part P.

Do I need a concrete base for my garden office?

Possibly

The Smart Garden Office range is designed for simplicity. We therefore supply every Smart Office with it's own base - the black band around the base. This is constructed from heavy duty, pressure treated timber and can be located in the wettest of locations.

With the Micro and Solo garden office ranges, in many locations, you don't require a concrete base as long as the area is solid, level and well drained.

With the Duo, Trio or Quarto ranges we can prepare a concrete base (or ring beam) prior to the installation of your office if you wish.

Who builds concrete bases for garden offices?

We do!

We have our own dedicated in-house ground works team and can undertake all preparation that may be necessary. Typically, we complete all ground works within just one day - with the minimum of fuss and disruption to you.
